Exquisite Depression-Era Dresser
‘Danaides’ by John William Waterhouse (1903)
Such a beautiful styled Depression-Era dresser. Solid wood, great construction. All drawers in working condition, with original hardware.
The image transfer is ‘Danaides’ by John William Waterhouse. Such a divine painting; a representation of the fifty daughters of Danaus. All but one, killed their husbands on their wedding night and were condemned to spend eternity carrying water in a sieve or perforated device.
I want my pieces to be art; to evoke feelings. To become conversational pieces.
The dresser body has been hand painted to give it a sense of fluidity. Areas have been refinished with a bronze paint, with blue patina – to mimic water.
This is a piece that you have to see in person. Words really can’t describe it.
The piece does separate into two parts, for easy moving. Measures approx: 38W x 20D x 62H
