The Annunciation Dresser – SOLD

The Annunciation Vintage Dresser

Description

On Valentines Day (the day to celebrate love) I give you the ultimate show of love:
A Mothers Love.

I knew I wanted this piece to be a little different. I loved the shape of the dresser, with it’s great carvings and I knew that it cried out for an image transfer. I wanted it to be seen as an old piece that had been covered up and forgotten. Collecting dust, holding memories.

I wanted it to feel ‘organic’ not contrived. Not upcycled.

Authentic.

I made my own casein paint, tempera paint, and shellac. This piece is as authentic as I probably can get. My decision to create my own materials lie in my vision of it being an authentically old piece: I wanted traditional casein paint. In a deep rich blue, but I wanted the paint to look as though the lime had been compromised; hence the whitish areas.

The image is titled ‘The Annunciation’ by Spanish artist, Bartolome Esteban Murillo. Showing the Virgin Mary. A mother’s love. It’s an exquisite painting. If you want to have a truly unique piece of art/furniture – this may be the piece for you.

Local pickup from Portland, Oregon is greatly welcomed. If shipping is needed, plus email me and I’ll work to get a reasonable shipping quote to you. Shipping is not included in the listing price.  Measurements are approx 42″x 19″x 36″.

As always, thanks for stopping by!
