Description
Going with the premise that I firmly believe furniture should be viewed as art, this is a piece that is just breathtakingly beautiful.
I will admit, it was not easy to get to this finish point. There were several times when I wanted to chop it up and throw it throw the window. But, now I’m here (and she’s complete) I just adore her.
I also firmly believe that not all wood furniture should/or needs to be painted. This antique dresser had beautiful veneer on the sides that didn’t deserve to be covered. The front did have several areas that were less than perfect.
I choose ‘Sleeping Beauty’ by Thomas Ralph Spence as my image transfer. I love the flowing lines, and I wanted a painting that would compliment the rich mahogany. The color of her hair works perfectly. And I also wanted the image to look authentic to the piece, so there’s lots of distressing and texture, and a beautiful patina. The detail trim has been gold-leafed.
It’s truly an unique piece. A piece of art. A conversation starter/stopper.
Commissioned pieces are available, time permitting.
Pickup from Portland, Oregon is greatly appreciated. However, I will be more than willing to work with you to find a reasonable shipper for the piece. Please send me your zip code (I have had great success with UShip) to get a shipping quote.
