In all fairness, it was just an OK bedframe when I bought it. It had been painted in white latex paint.
But the lines were good. And I knew the bed could be much much better.
I’m of the mind that girly or feminine or romantic doesn’t necessarily mean that it had to be pink. Or frilly.
The bed and matching nightstand have been painted with an aubergine color, and the detailing has been highlighted with gold leaf, which has been distressed. The headboard/footboard have been upholstered with a beautiful muted chinoiserie fabric. The pull out drawer on the nightstand has been covered with the same fabric.
Given that this is an antique bed, it is a full size. Not a queen. The set also includes two wood sidebars.
