Description
How do I describe this? Let’s focus on the structure first. Very solid, with dovetail joints. Original hardware. Comprises of four drawers, and ample space behind the two top doors. Heavy. Great carved detail work.
But that really doesn’t even come close to describing it.
It’s completely unique. A one-of-a-kind. Time worn. Understated elegance. This is a piece of furniture that demands attention. A piece of art. Flexible for any space: whether it be a living room, office, or bedroom. Any space that needs the ‘Wow’ factor.
I wanted this piece to look authentically worn; lots of character, patina and stories to tell.
If you’re looking for a newly-refinished piece, with smooth perfect finishes – this piece isn’t for you.
I’ve worked on adding texture and depth to the piece; layer by layer. The image transfer is called ‘The Church at Varengeville’ by Monet (1882). I choose very muted earthy colors: aubergine, green, browns. The carved detailing has been gold leafed and distressed.
It’s beautiful. From a by-gone era.
