‘Miranda’ literally means “that which must be admired” (from mirari – to admire). So it would seem almost logical to creative a functional art piece, using John William Waterhouse’s ‘Miranda’ on the front. Dressers don’t have to be JUST to hold socks. Dressers can be magnificent pieces of art. With a little time, and a lot of steps.
Where to begin to describe this…Painted with Annie Sloan Chalk paint (Aubusson Blue and a mix of Duck Egg/Provence). Dark glaze added for aged appearance. A deep, calming blue. Hand waxed.
Miranda has been image transferred, and given an authentic aged appearance. Lots of different textiles in the image, and surrounding painted areas. I particularly wanted to use a Serpentine fronted dresser to mimic the movement of the ocean.
Copper leaf detailing on the top trim, and bottom apron. Natural patina. Original hardware has also been copper leafed and distessed.
Measures approx. 42W x 21D x 35H
This is a completely original piece. I like to think of my pieces of art as ‘conversational starters/stoppers’. There’s no way you could ever walk into a room and not comment on it. I can guarantee it.
