Imagine Transfer Online Masterclass: Learn how to turn furniture into pieces of art!

Learn how to make beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture using the process of Image Transfer.

I’ve been specializing in image transfer for several years. It’s a process I find incredibly rewarding because it has the power to take a plain piece of furniture and turn it into a piece of art. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to be able to focus on, and perfect, the process. I’ve been very fortunate to have had my pieces featured in several printed publications, both domestically and internationally. Although I offer one painting tutorial (that focuses on blending and working with glazes), I have always resisted doing a tutorial on image transfer. Until now.

Now I’m ready to share. This is the first time I have offered image transfer classes online.

‘Back in the day’ (prior to Covid), I had planned to hold an in-person painting retreat on Cape Cod in 2020. I had organized a small intimate gathering of six women, who would spend the weekend with me. I chose the small group setting because I really wanted to go into depth about the various steps it takes to create an authentic patina. Over the years I’ve found that my techniques can’t be rushed, therefore the idea of painting over several days really appealed to me. The workshop sold out on the first day of offering. Then Covid hit, and the retreat sadly had to be canceled. Since then, I’ve been thinking about how to give that same group of women the same in-depth tutorial, only remotely. This is my attempt. In my mind, I think of this as being a ‘Retreat without the beach’. Because I’ve had the luxury of being able to tape over the course of several days, I have been able to go into much more detail than perhaps I would have been on the retreat. As I finished the taping, it occurred to me that perhaps more people would like the chance to view the tutorial from the comfort of their homes. The time feels right. I feel that I’m ready to move from ‘painter’ to ‘teacher’ and so I, very happily, have decided to share my techniques to a wider audience.

I will be very transparent here. This is a tutorial void of bells and whistles. There is no professional cameraman, there are no special effects. It is a bare-knuckles attempt on my part to explain exactly how and what I do. I am hoping that you will forgive the editing (I’m learning), and see that the true value is in the knowledge shared.

This is a complete ‘Start-to-Finish’ tutorial. You’ll learn everything you need to know about working with large image transfers. From priming to choosing the right image, to applying the image. You’ll learn how to give gold leaf an aged patina, how to add fine porcelain cracks to give your piece an authentic aged look, how to work the glazes. The tutorial consists of nine chapters, with over eight hours of content. If you enjoy painting but feel that you want to learn more advanced techniques to help elevate your pieces, this may be the tutorial for you. I don’t believe in using one brand of paint. I use several products from different companies and will include a list of materials for you.

Once you have purchased the tutorial, you will be invited to join a private Facebook group page (I will need to know your Facebook contact details to send you an invite). Once you accept, you can watch the videos at your own pace. There is no time limit attached to the videos.  I encourage you to share your finished piece on the page! It will be a wonderful chance to connect with other artists who want to learn the process. If you have any questions regarding the techniques covered in the tutorial, I will be more than happy to answer them on the page. My goal is for you to learn and become comfortable with the techniques, and then to go and expand on them while finishing your own piece.
